Safeguarding

• All mentoring is arranged with the knowledge and involvement of a parent or legal guardian.
• Anyone working with athletes is vetted and completes safeguarding training before mentoring begins.
• Mentoring records and information about an athlete are kept private and are only accessed by people who are authorised and need the information to deliver or manage the service.
• We follow current UK safeguarding good practice for youth sport and adapt our practices as guidance evolves.

All mentoring arrangements are made with the parent or legal guardian. Sessions may take place online, by telephone, by video call or in person, depending on the mentoring package and what has been agreed with the parent or guardian.

Parents and guardians are kept informed about scheduled sessions and the support being provided. Any direct communication with an athlete must be appropriate for their age, connected to the mentoring service and carried out with the parent or guardian's knowledge.

Champions Mentality maintains clear professional boundaries. Mentoring communication must not be conducted through a mentor's personal social-media account, and athletes must never be asked to keep mentoring communication secret from their parent or guardian.

If you have any concern about an athlete's safety or wellbeing, however small, please tell us immediately. You will always be taken seriously.
