Our commitment

Safeguarding

Last updated July 2026

Champions Mentality works with young athletes aged 8–16. Their safety and wellbeing come before every other consideration. This page explains the standards our mentors work to and how parents, athletes, coaches, or anyone else can raise a concern.

Our standards

  • All mentoring is parent-led. A guardian creates and manages every family account.
  • Mentors are vetted before working with athletes and complete safeguarding orientation before joining the platform.
  • Written mentor notes and submissions are only visible to authorised staff and the family.
  • We follow current UK safeguarding good practice for youth sport and adapt policies as guidance evolves.

How mentors communicate with athletes

All athlete-facing communication happens inside the Champions Mentality platform. Mentors do not exchange private phone numbers, personal social media handles, or off-platform messages with athletes. Group and 1:1 sessions, where offered, are scheduled through the platform with parents informed.

Raising a concern

If you have any concern about an athlete's safety or wellbeing — however small — please tell us immediately. You will always be taken seriously.

  • Email: safeguarding@championsmentality.com
  • General contact: use the form on our Contact page.
  • In an emergency where a child is at immediate risk, contact the emergency services on 999 (UK), or the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000. Childline is available to under-18s on 0800 1111.

Reviewing this policy

We review our safeguarding practices at least annually and after any incident. If you would like a copy of our full internal safeguarding policy, please request it by email.
