Pillar 10 of 12

Responsibility & Accountability

Own your preparation, behaviour and effort.

Responsibility means owning what's yours — your preparation, your behaviour, your effort, your reactions. Not the referee. Not your teammates. Not the coach. Not the weather. Blame is comfortable and it keeps athletes stuck.

We work on the difference between things you control (attitude, effort, sleep, prep), things you influence (relationships with coaches and teammates), and things you can't control (selection decisions, other people, luck). Champions invest 90% of their energy in the first two.

Accountability shows up in small ways every session: turning up on time, kit ready, phone away, warm-up done properly, questions asked, feedback taken on. Mentors help athletes see that no one is coming to make them great — that job is theirs.
